Abraham Lincoln And Stephen Douglas - 1674 Words

Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas were engaged in seven different debates across Illinois. At these debates Douglas was bating Lincoln during his speeches with the topic of race, then Lincoln would have to defend himself. A week after these debates Lincoln was welcomed to Dallas City with a banner that read â€Å"Equality.† According to Miller, Lincoln was arguing in favor of â€Å"Negro Equality,† and was arguing that he saw slavery as a monstrous injustice and a huge moral wrong. He was against slavery in the territories but Douglas did not see slavery to be an evil. A senate seat was at stake for these two men and race was a key focus of debate. Douglas’ main argument was that slavery should be permitted to spread to the territories while Lincoln disagreed. Lincoln was arguing for black humanity, because of his compassion of human beings and natural rights that African Americans should have. Lincoln did not have much contact with slavery in the early years o f his life, but did see slaves at labor, being sold, and being punished by their owners. It did not matter what he felt about slavery because of the law, slaves were personal property. Radical abolitionists attacked Lincoln during his political tenure, but agreed with constitutional stance. Lincoln was born in Kentucky, but his family moved to free Indiana while Lincoln was a child. The presence of slavery in Kentucky was one reason for the move. Describe two opposite people In the small community of Culmersville there are only two adults that I could spend time with and never be bored. She hopes that he will not feel hungry during the school time and knows it can help him to concentrate in his studies. Ms. Kelly is also a sympathetic lady. Although she was not high-educated, she always teaches her kids and me to help other people. During weekends she would visit the Children’s Hostel and help the workers to teach and feed the children. She also always invites me and my family to be a volunteer and join her to do social works. On the other hand Mr. King was the complete opposite. He was an electrician and one of the most selfish people I knew. Mr. King would have two bottles of water and would rather throw a bottle of water in the garbage or put it in his car before he would give it to you. But yet I found Mr. King to be a funny man and spent lots of time with him playing dominoes. I had the best relationship with Mr. King in Culmersville. This probably was because I never asked him for anything. But Ms. Kelly and Mr. King was the worst of friends. I would call them enemies. All of this started when Ms. Kelly asked Mr. King to donate some of his funds to the Children’s Hostel. Mr. King could have told her a simple ‘no’ but he loudly told Ms. King, ‘if you don’t get off my property talking foolishness about donating money I would throw you off myself’. This was where the commotion started. Ms. Kelly then asked, ‘Do you call homeless children foolishness? ’ Mr. King then said, ‘The children aren’t the foolishness. You are. ‘Mr. King then slammed the door in Ms. Kelly’s face like she was coming to rob his house. Ever since this day every time Ms. Kelly sees Mr. King she would start pointing fingers at him telling people he hate homeless children and unfortunate people. These are the two people that thought me that people with opposite personalities would never be able to be together. The Beginning of a Complex

Question: What would you do? What would you think? Would you tell people what you saw? Answer: What would I do? At first would be scared of what the individual was doing on the elevator. The scene of the event is scaring and would inquire of what the individual is doing all alone. My curiosity would get a better part of me and would ask what he is doing all along and why he is in the elevator. If the person refuses to tell me, l would get out of the elevator very fast because would not like to be caught up with whatever he was doing. What would I think? The first would think would the individual is either crazy or something is wrong with him. Looking closely would think is the art, since the events that surround him look as though it is just an act. If I would tell people of what I saw Definitely yes. The essence of such event needs to be shared to other so as to get them appreciate the art in more so in the times we live. This is so in that it has substantially changed over the times. Such an event demonstrate a performance art, it contains both the visual art and the drama more so where the tray with the pins and the sign written prick me.
